Celebrate with us
A experience never to be forgotten
After experiencing the magic of the Murrough Mountain, we invite you to get up close and personal with our fluffy alpaca friends – a must for all animal lovers..
This experience brings together the beauty of the landscape and the calm and serenity offered by the alpacas. A connection is created between you and the alpacas as you mingle freely with them in their environment.
Drive with us over our mountain farm taking the route of the herdsmen of long ago to bring their cattle to the mountain for the winter. The track is over 6 miles / 10km long rising to heights 1,000ft (300m) above sea level. We will tell you about our life and how we farm in the Burren.
We stop many times to show you relics of mountain life thousands of years ago, such as forts, turf tiles, and magnificent examples of dry stone walls. We encourage our guests to walk on the limestone paving, smell the magnificent flowers, examine the ancient relics or stand on the cliff edge.
On the mountain you will experience the magic. You will then be taken to mingle with our attention-loving alpacas. These guys are not camera shy, so photo opportunities are in abundance. Feeding these cheeky creatures is a real hoot, and their friendly, inquisitive nature makes meeting them an entertaining experience. These fluffy friends look right into your eyes, giving a sense of peace and serenity.
When you decide it is time to leave the alpacas, we welcome you to have a cup of tea on the farm and reflect on the time you have spent with us both on the mountain and with the animals.
When you leave the farm, we hope that you will know a little more about the Burren, its people, and especially the alpacas. That you feel a little closer to nature and see its beautify every day from now on.
Mick O2024-05-20 Wonder magical trip that will linger long in the memory. This was a truly magical and wonderful tour. Anne was a superb guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. The pace of the trip was unhurried, and with frequent stops and the ability to ask questions, we both thoroughly appreciated the history, limestone paving, and flora of the majestic Burren. It was also excellent value for money. One suggestion that might enhance the trip would be if some light refreshments (such as a flask of tea and/or coffee) were provided halfway through so that we could sit down for longer to enjoy the sheer beauty and tranquillity that the Burren offers. savannah f2024-05-17 The only Burren Mountain Tour you need on your itinerary! The Burren Mountain Tour is fascinating and led by local residents Anne and John. Anne and John are very knowledgeable about the history of the land, land formations, inhabitants (human and animal), plant life and climate. The tour is personal and informative, highlighted by the presence of cows grazing on the land, part of John and Anne’s several hundred heard of cattle. They are conscientious stewards of this unique and special area of Ireland; their perspective is similarly unique and special and they delight in sharing their expertise with visitors. From caves to waterfalls to a natural amphitheater to alpacas to real life shamrocks, the Burren Mountain Tour is a must have activity on your County Clare itinerary! This was an absolute highlight of our trip. Connector297952024-05-15 Spectacular experience! Words cannot really describe the absolute beauty of this place. We were in complete awe. Anne was such a lovely guide. We learned so much about farm life on the Burren. We had such nice chats along the way as well. EVERYONE should take Anne’s tour. It’s an experience you will never forget! Safari037074433942024-05-03 A magical and timeless moment! Incredible experience! We were guided by the farmer's wife, who shared with us her knowledge and her daily life in the Burrens mountain. A must do! Nomad059572846672024-02-24 A Must-See Slice of the Burren Our family group, ranging in age for mid-60s to mid-80s, had the privilege this past August of touring the 1,000 acre spread owned by proprietors John and Anne this past August. In two vehicles, we drove up their private road into a landscape unique to this special place called the Burren, that people spanning back to neolithic times have called home. Wherever one's interests may lie, this experience will resonate for those who take the opportunity to visit; it will connect you, as through a portal, to another world. This experience was especially meaningful for members of our group who are past their best hiking days; they effectively were able to take a trek up rocky slopes and down into sunken dales with the assistance of John and Anne's 4x4s, with numerous stops during which we felt the stiff breezes and felt the rock under our feet and imagined for a time what life has been like here in this unique landscape. For anyone with ancestry reaching into Ireland, the sight of walls on the stone flats below the mountain, homesteads for many families in past times, gives one pause to imagine the hardships they must have endured to live in this place. If nothing else, the views from the mountain, of soil that has run off this mountain to form a reach that stretches into Galway Bay and of the city of Galway, across the water, and the Connemara Mountains beyond, are truly lovely and worth the trip by themselves. Best of all, John and Ann are gracious and knowledgeable guides who seem more like friends by the end of the tour, or I would like to think so in any event. This was in the course of 8 days in the Burren area our favorite activity, one that we won't likely ever forget. Emily D2024-01-10 Thoroughly enjoyed experience It was a really nice time, we thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tour of the burrens! Really friendly tour guides 🙂 Meysman2023-10-24 What an experience! What an experience. Our trip started with a ride in a 4x4 and then a walk through the Burren. Along the way, the guide explained to us how the Burren came to be, the landscape, the animals that live there and the plants that grow there. But what really stuck with me was the silence. Amazing! Kelly K2023-09-19 Wonderful windy tour! This was a wonderful experience! We booked the walking tour but on the day of experienced some of Irelands famous weather and Anne offered to take us on the driving tour instead. A beautiful and information tour of farming life in the burren. Anne is a great tour guide and enthusiastically answered all of my dads (many) questions. Great views to be had of the mountain and the sea. Despite the rain and wind we were rewarded with a full rainbow! 100% recommend! Steven Carroll2019-09-11 Amazing Really enjoyed this experience even if it wasn't a fine day. Anne is a very friendly and knowledgeable person and we enjoyed talking farming with her. So nice to be off the beaten track and almost have the place to ourselves. Thank you so much for generously sharing your little slice of paradise with us. From the NZ gate openers 🙂
